A day with a dandelion pleases me more than a year with a hothouse orchid.

Living in Westchester, New York, Ginny documents nature that tells a story. Walking the many preserves and parks of her area, she documents and highlights the overshadowed, the wild. With her mature eye, Ginny finds delight in the heroic dandelion growing up through a crack in the sidewalk or a wild tangle of vines twisting around the fallen tree trunks in the woods. Embracing her 73 years, she paints the medicinal qualities of fruits and nuts that keep the body walking and the mind curious.

Born to a pilot and a teacher/psychologist, my childhood was the spectacular glaciers of Montana, manicured plants of Japan, grapevines of Northern California. Adulthood was the manicured lawns and hothouse orchids of Southern California and the rock walled woods of New York. Each move was an influence, some I discarded others became a passion.

FROM GINNY:

I returned to art after a career in contract design. A gift from my daughter in New York, I started a Certification Program at the nearby NYBG known for their highly gifted teachers and support. In my seventies, I was up for the challenge but aware of my shortcomings. I have not looked back. My three daughters are the greatest joy, encouraging my goals and brainstorming business ideas.

I work in a series format, using variety of mediums. The subjects are always simple and plain, wild and wicked, often lowly.

I DRAW the weed with the greatest care..it’s simple grace is fine and rare.
